The pump is mounted behind the pedestal and the battery is embedded in the rear of the saddle, really low to keep CG as low as possible. I don't normally use straps with that setup, only when I think I might get sucked out of the boat.

Wow... I never thought that would work. A pump would make NRG and Gauley runs much more enjoyable! Any recommendations on which kind to get? I've never used one

I have four or five Tsunami's in my boats and never had a problem with any of them, best thing is they are about $35 and you can get them at Walmart. Bilge pump hose is available at Lowes and Home Depot.
Use a SLA (sealed lead acid) battery available at Radio Shack or Battery stores for around $30. No waterproof connections or box for battery needed. I use the heavy duty switch from Lowes. Not the lightest setup with that battery, but cheap and effective. For recharging, I have a waterproof Battery Tender and I mount the pig tail attachments on the battery so that they poke up behind the saddle. I get a couple days of use before having to recharge.

That would work, your just looking for a 12v 4.5ah or higher battery. I use two different sizes depending on the boat, 4.5ah for playboat and a 7.5ah for normal boats. The playboat one is half the size and weight and would probably work just fine for normal boats, I just wanted the larger battery for multiday trips.

Ref the charger- that is exactly what I have.

The switches are in the electical section, normally on the end cap with a bunch of different types of switches. There are a couple that are in the $4 range and one in the $8 range that claims it heavy duty. The actual switches are the same but the heavy duty one comes with a waterproof switch knob cover. I like the look of that cover and just buy replacement cheaper ones and transfer the cover when replacing it.

Why would you need to replace it? Well... like last weekend when I had a demo and a guy try clicking it side to side when it was set up for up and down switching... kills those pretty quick. Embed the switch in your foam so that it can't be bumped accidently.

Ive gone as low as 1.5 amp for river running had it last multiple runs, saves weight, usually use the 4.5 cause dont have to charge it as much and cause I keep loosing the little one in my car.
I also carve out into theside foam for my knees so I can widen my stance, more comfy.
