Video of oc1 slalom run this weekend POV

Post by bcmcmillan »

So I shot a little video of my runs on Friday and this was the faster of the two. This is for the OC1 REC class during the slalom nationals this past weekend. The video is very shakey so if you get sick easily.... you have been warned.

Awesome event, So much fun! Thank you to everyone that helped put this event on! If you missed it you are dumb.

Nice run. I had the bird's eye view setting safety below the falls.

Nice! That was almost a minute faster than my time, not counting touches. :)

Truly a great weekend. I can't possibly name all the cool people I met, but MJ, Psycho, Carole Westwood, and David Sink all standout in my mind, and there's at least 20 more people I could name if I thought for a while. I'm already trying to figure out how to make it to Carlton, MN next summer.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks, Brad - that is very useful in describing to friends and family who aren't familiar with the sport what's its like. My best run had about 3 more touches and took about a minute longer to complete...

[edit - just read your description - I only had *1* more touch but about 100 seconds longer... :-P]

Thanks, Wendy for fishing my butt out of the river after my ugly swim! It was equipment failure, really! I have the broken buckle as evidence...

Awesome video! It really makes me feel like I'm back on the course, feeling all the paddle strokes and negotiating the water. Thanks for sharing! I miss it already - sooooo much fun!

I should say the exact same! And in my case, by equipment failure, I mean the Inferno failed to do me any favors on the eddy line above gate 13. 8) Very cool meeting you Scott, and really looking forward to my next big gathering!

On the Nantahala, there is good viewing for the last 2/3rds of the course from river right. The sidewalk is probably ~20 feet above the water level, so with this POV, it is hard to make out. The biggest group of people was usually around the third and fourth upstream gate.
