In OC-1 I always just used a dry top and paddling pants, with the pants tucked up into the double tunnel on the top (gasket thingy mentioned before). A couple layers of polypro, fleece if it is real cold, and I'm good. Maybe I'm just hot natured, but that would work for the coldest days including playboating (limited as mine is), rolling, and the occasional swim. Sure, I'd get a little wet, but no big inrush of water and the polypro kept me warm. Also, that applies to the southern Appalachians - Nanty, Noli, Chattooga, etc - including some midwinter runs with air in the 20's and the water icing up on my gear and in the still/shallow sections.
It's important to top that off with a good beanie (RapidStyle fuzzy rubber) , pogies (Mt Surg Creek Mitts) and foot wear (full wet suit boots).
That beats the heck out of how I was dressed for my first trip in a C-1 - mid February in a rain coat and pants with skimpy layers of poly pro top and bottom. After the 6th (but not last swim) we built a fire...

NRS Extreme
NRS Extreme suit breathes just fine. I haven't done a bunch of hard core attaining in it, but after a fairly brisk play run, I can still just take it off and wear my baselayers on the drive home.
The gaskets are a little thin compared to my IR drytop, and the cut is a bit blocky (kind of like their shoes- clunky but functional). Overall, though, it seems like it'll hold up fairly well.

Building a Fire
It is nice to have the capability to build a fire. Those little fire starters or fire ribbon that looks like toothpaste are nice.
Once a friend and I were paddling the Big South Fork and we decided to build a fire using some coal chunks that were laying everywhere on the river banks. Smelled like my grand parents house in the Winter.

Stohlquist drysuit
I just got a Stohlquist bBody Pod breathable dry suit with booties and a neoprene neck for under $500. Paddle Shack has them in stock. The men's come with or without a tunnel. The women's are not available with a tunnel. I put it on in the heated house and did well- I normally sweat in Gortex. The neoprene neck is great for those of us with neck gasket issues.
