As long as your out on the water its all good! As my friends say... paddling a C is going for .. "paddling harder boats instead of harder rivers!"
Anytime anyone gives you greif in an OC or C just say "..your right let me take your boat down the next section to see what I'm missing!" Once they think about it (the fact they have to take your boat then) you get a lot of "er, ah, well, maybe latters!".
I agree being about to hop from boat to boat like a dog in heat is great and gives you the edge in figuring out if a K makes a worth while conversion. But the bottom line is to stay positive and enjoy! With some effort newbies will get it and become feared warriors in a short time! CU out there! Paul C.
As for the Jedis out there "Alive they are!" May the force be with you all! Nothing is as graceful as watching a pod of the DC C1 racers dropping down the ledges on the NBofP.
Proper new OCer Education :P  :P

Actually, since they have just one blade in the water at a time, they're handling just 1 blade at any givin time but are simplifying the stroke difficulty by half on the return part of the stroke...Jim Michaud wrote:I have the utmost respect for kayakers so I never call them names. Heck, I have a hard enough time handling one blade. How they manage to handle two blades at once is beyond me.
So, even if it seems they get double blade coordination, in reality it's half the difficulty
at least I tried...

OK, nothing better to do today....
I think this C<->K discussion is all horse doo.
I switched with different friends a few times on the easier runouts of creeks. Man, I am always impressed how well they do. I am no better in a kayak. It's really mostly about edge control and timing.
Personally, I see the difference not so much in the blade used but rather in the higher center of gravity.
In the end, we are just going down the river together, having a great time. I just use a C1 b/c that's what I learned.
Happy paddling, Jan
Ps: every kayaker I had in my boat in a pool rolled after a few minutes.

Is there something like an expert kayaker?
