There are lots of Quebexicans that make the journey.
Martin Talbot from Montreal plus others.
Just come down and paddle ... there is something for everyone.

Campground TDB
But in a nutshell here is how the festival works for the 9 days it happens:
It's like a pickup hockey game
We meet at a central point (normally a restaurant)
The locals say whats running
People divide into groups and head off to have fun.
Thats it!

So a pick up hockey game is a festival, too? You kanucks need to get out more. The lack of sunshine is holding you back.

Id watch calling it a Festival, people might show up expecting vedors and free stuff given out by sponsers. games and rides. Thats what I think of as a Festival.
A Fest is just an exuberant amount of something, like awesome whitwater and single stick players, rockin a good time.
I came down wanting to get a taste of class III-IV creeks and was fed it till I was full. There was also appitizers of class II-III with the chef pushin IV from the kitchen.
I heard there was a seniors menu for those just lookin for pretty rivers and a good time without having to worry over about nasty swims, drops or undercuts.

At least the beer stores carry good beer.

at least we can buy a single beer at the gas station.... provided it 's not a dry County... you need to be careful of that in lots of paddling areas - all through the south
not sure anymore but over on the French Broad in NC, there were places you use to be able to purchase whiskey (state law-legal state wide) and not be able to get a beer (county-by-county law)
