Definitions vary depending upon the governing body. For decked boats kids can compete as junior for their last year the calendar year that they turn 18. You can also break up juniors in to Jr. 16 (15-16), Cadet (13-14), and Cub-Cadet (12 & under). A lot of races that combine open and decked competition roughly follow these age groupings, although sometimes they only recognize Jr. (15-18) and Cadet (14 & under) and leave out the other sub-categories.

However, I've never heard a figure quoted for a lower age limit on the Sr. part of a Jr./Sr. team. Has anyone else?
