I don't have a "bomb proof" roll in my Prelude, but it's pretty good. :lol:

I don't have holes in the saddle for water transfer.
I did glue 3" of extra foam on the paddler side of the bulkhead to make it "deeper" where my thighs enter it. I have very skinny legs and tend to fall out of bulkheads.
My saddle is cut down 1-1/2" from stock.

I find that if I concentrate on the sweep portion of the roll it usually results in success.

Sorry, been stuck at work for a while...

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I def need to finish my outfitting. Currently its a bit of a loose fit.

I do have transfer tubes cut into the saddle, though there is room for more.

Will add some more foam on the sidewalls and front of bulkhead.

Best tip I've ever gotten for keeping your head down was to keep the front of your helmet glued to your paddle shaft until you are all the way back up. When learning the roll in my Viper that single thing took me from a "sometimes" roll to "Oh, I get it now!".

Still open to more ideas...

Not sure if this will help, but I break the roll into three steps and concentrate on each.. I "reach for surface" ..."hipsnap boat" ... "swing head forward over bow".... I run that through my head when I roll and the faster you can get those steps done the faster your roll... helped me.

Smurf, you may be on to something there. With the Prelude being such a deep and narrow boat, that first part of your checklist may need to be exaggerated. Gonna experiment with that too. Thanks!

I always overdo the 'reach for surface' as it prevents the boat from handing up. Another tip comes from my gunfighting days...
"Slow is smooth and Smooth is Fast" Think about that... the smoother you are the faster you are but you can't be fast without being smooth.

I know I should add 1 or 2 tubes for water transfer, it's on my modifications list. It should be done before the alpine season starts again!

Excellent. This probably applies to all aspects of C boating.

Should be followed with a question like, "What is the sound of one blade clapping?"
