I have done what pblanc described for over 20 yrs, never had a problem, even in my composite Millbrook. Tie the knots on the inside of the hull and melt the ends of the cord loops to keep them from fraying

I don't often remove them, but have to snug them up occasionally. This approach sounds like the cord loops through the gunwales that I had before, based on the original (John Berry/MR?) outfitting. I still have my cord loops... Hmmm.
