Falk....we'll miss you and you're shuttle driving abilities, not to mention your skill with a camera.
Thanks Chris, I'll add it to my list and if it's in the list of possibilites I'll head over or do it on a day we have hubby with us (1 kid to parent ratio is comfortable). I think I can handle Hiawasse alone and I did the Nanty last year.
Abrams creek looks absolutely beautiful....how much rain do you have to have for it to run? I noticed it was in the green last week on AW..... thinking of the lower section as an easy option?
Even the Little and Middle Prong of the litle Pigeon seem to have doable sections either before or after the techical sections.
Washer, I didn't use this website once we got to Tennesse last year. It was basicly show up at the meeting spot and pick an option or phone in and meet at the put in. No real organizing, just a lot of free agents and a mutual goal.
basicly, there ain't any details....
Gail, I'm the one that ran Abrams Creek last week and posted on AW, if the little at townsend is 3.0 or higher and the TVA cades cove rain guage has some rain showing the day before it is probably running. If it's runnin its a great wilderness class II run Much more fun than the nanty imo, nothing as big as the falls though. That was the first time I ran it, I live 20min from it. It's worth a visit even with a long flatwater section to the take out.
Thans a million Mike!
I hadn't noticed the new information you had posted after your run...I had it on my list to ask about. Will definetly put it on the possibilities if it rains the night before.
Have you run the upper section? Cades Cove to Abrams Creek Campground (or know anyone who has?) Looks like a nice little run as well. Portaging the girls around Abrams falls makes it not a family river but might take it on sans kiddies if anyone else is game (not the falls, I'll rapel my boat and take the goat path)

I havnt been on the upper section. I know a yaker that has, he said the only reason to do the upper is to run the falls. The shuttle for the upper is horrendous, the put in is in cades cove, 1hour minimum one way from campground to put in, and vise versa. I got the impression the rest of the upper section wasnt worth the shuttle. Probably the reason not many run it. Shuttle for the lower is 10-15min.
hour one way? okie dokie scratch that, Tellico from the bridge down better bang for the buck
Water...drop me a PM and I'll gvie you my telephone number
one of our cabins is looking to paddle March 8th close to Wear's valley....I think they define close as an hour.
Whenever you folks have an idea what you're paddling Saturday let us know... Hubby is looking to get a paddle in
Does any one know of a class II slalom coures set up around the area? We wish to get Emily some practice time in her C1 while we're down. We've been over to NOC and it works great but I was hoping to cut down on the driving over the mountains into NC as we'll be staying just outside Pigeon Forge.

So, is there a popular campground for this get together? I'll only be able to come for the last weekend, but I look forward to getting back together with everyone, considering how much fun last year was. Now I've really got my roll, so life is much easier!
