Kydex is cool stuff, but I've already got a bunch of polyethylene though it is a boring shade of white...

Some of this thread's wording has been modified. No personal attacks please ... even in jest!
As for C1'ers - hey I resemble that remark..... then I have more time paddling open this year. So I guess I go both ways!!!!
Question for you familiar plural if that Bfly is a decked boat then what the heck is that Taureau and the decked LEdge now being paddled?
When I paddled a Taureau (thanks Micky B) I found it fun but basically a chubby C1 with a slot on top for letting water in? But in fairness to the Taureau I didn't get to take it on a true creek'n run.
The decked LEdge I found to be very fun and very dry and "enclosed" so the question stands... is the only difference between a decked (C1) and open boat (OC) being some type of fabric attached to the paddler's waist? Some of the recent OCs are getting pretty much "padded out" with mini cell so that a skirt is starting to look optional! Just looking for a clearification on open and decked?
PS: Yes I modified my post at the request of another!

Troublemaker! hahaa Well since no one else will bite, I'll take an uneducated stab at it. When you're in a C1, everyone wonders what happened to your kayak paddle. When you're in a proper OC, people think you have balls of steel. When paddling a semi enclosed OC, people wonder what the H you're paddling, but still give you props for having balls of steel. Works for me!
Since its No-Shave-November, and my mustache is coming in a little, I'm having a strong desire for metal flake and fiberglass... I'd love a Csquirt about now to go with the facial hair.

Following smurf’s reasoning, what’s open or decked is less important than what’s a kayak versus a canoe.
Regardless of the boat if you kneel and use a single blade you are a canoer or cboater.

Oh yeah, forgot to add... the "balls of steel" includes the C1ers, you just have to do more explaining to people before they realize.
I still think someone needs to make a large sticker that says "THIS IS A CANOE!" hahah.....
