Hey, mates. I will be in the DC/Balto area (Damascus, actually) next week. I am interested in paddling Dickerson. As I understand it the price of admission is joining a race club.

Does one need to be accompanied? Where is it? Where can I join the club?

Any info would be appreciated.

Try this link for membership:

http://www.bce-racing.com/

You will need to download and fill out a pile of waivers and submit a fee. There maybe some visiting athlete passes, check the site.

The membership is handled by Tom McEwan at:

http://www.liquidadventures.org

Who, incidently is an approved coach. They also sponsor workouts on Saturdays and Sundays. You will need to be sponsored/accompanied by a coach at the Dickerson facility! Tom may/may not make you pass a WW proficiency test for rolling and self rescue as well.

Also, I think a Blue Card holder can suppervise you as well in lieu of a coach, check the BCE website. I think Alden, who posts here often, is a Blue Card Holder.

Hope this helps,

Tom

yep, talk to Tom McEwan about everything. if you're just in town briefly he might say you can paddle with him on sundays or something without having to get certified, ect. once you get cleared, if you want someone to paddle there with, drop me a note.
