Finky deck size

Post by Col »

Does a slalom deck fit a finky ?

Its probably easier for me to buy a Peak UK slalom deck than it is to get hold of a finky deck from the Robson dealer here in the UK.

Cheers

I will check tonight

Col,

I have a Finkenmeister, as well as a Peak UK slalom deck. I will check the fit tonight, as I use a different skirt (MS) with the Fink.
The cockpit on it is definitely bigger than on some older slalom boats, it's about the same size as the cockpits on Shaggy boats, while for instance the cockpit in my Acrobat (all are supposedly standard C1 slalom size) is significantly smaller.

cheers!

i use my peak top-deck(racer top, slalom deck) on my fink, it's tight, but it will fit. the skirt will wear out faster being that stretched out, so think about making it not your primary skirt.

I agree with Isaac, the Peak deck is VERY tight and probably from a wear pint of view not the best option.

Alternative options are Galasport slalom skirts, I have a worn out one that I use in the pool on it, for some reason it's a bit bigger than the Peak one and fits well.

Another al;ternative is totry to find a skirt made for a Dagger Cascade or Atom. Although the cockpit shape is different, they fit surprisingly well and are very dry.

Sometimes you can find skirts for the Gyramax and/or Slasher in the bottom of the box, on the bargain rack, back of the closet, etc - these can be had cheaply. The Slasher rim is a little smaller than the Cascade size, and the Gyramax a little smaller than that, yet, I have skirts that fit all three boats acceptably.

Snap Dragon will make you one, for about $100. They make great skirts. The Fink ~ 3190 sq. cm. Cascade ~ 2928 sq. cm. or
( Fink- 58 x 55 ; Cascade 61 x48. cockpit size... factory specs.)

Mountain surf makes a terrific skirt for the Fink. I have one. It is durable, goes on easy, stays on, and is water tight.
