Directions in Ottawa

Post by yarnellboat »

I'll be in Ottawa next week. I'm not planning to paddle, but I may find time to look around. Are there really play spots right in town? Could I wandered down and see if there's a Sparc surfing Champlain Wave?

Thanks, PY.

Hey Pat i used to live in Ottawa. The Champlain is fun. Let me know if it is still there. I think the water should be low right now. If you are ballzie, go to Hog's Back for some drops. Might get arrested it you paddled that thing. Some really cool drops there. I miss Ottawa.

Pat, call me at 613-863-0269 - I live in the city - I can give you a quick tour and show you where things are at.. (also not paddle) if you want. I work from home and it's a bit slow these days...

Champlain Rapids are at Bates Island, midway across the champlain bridge. There's also Hog's Back, which is fun to visualize how to run...
As well - there's the pumphouse, which is a slalom training course immediately west of the downtown section on rideau... Those are the main ones...

If you go on Sat/Sun to Champlain between 4-6 PM chances are you'll see some people paddling there..

Mike.
