Hey Jan

Post by msims »

... I was talking to my brother on Van Island.... he heads up water for the city of Nanimo. He's actually building a huge dam for the watershed, I was trying to convince him to make it navigable ;-)

Anyway, that's beside the point.

He mentioned that Nanaimo got majorly dumped on... He said that the Nanaimo R. went from 25 CMS to 900 CMS (or 5 ft to 30 feet!!!!) in about 24 hrs!! You must be a little busy out there!

yeah, we had some huge floods here. My shoulder is f*&R#$ though, so I am not paddling these days. Has been 4 month now, hopefully I can catch the spring season.

Couple friends just paddled the Nanaimo at 500 cms. It's a fun river at those flows. Quite big with some aweseome play waves and no eddies (and usually some big trees hauling butt down the river).

Good stuff. B ut I gotta keep my head off paddling for a while. Hope to get some turns in on skis though. If only that stupid pineapple
express would not have dumped rain up to 2000 m....

Let me know when you get out here again, maybe by then I can paddle some (easy) stuff...

Cheers, Jan
