It's time to move up from my big ol', super stable, hides my mistakes, 14' long, 32" wide, can sit on the gunwales Challenger OC-1. I don't have the funds for a new boat, so I'm on the prowl for a used or "fixer upper" Rival, Outrage, Probe 12II, Shaman or any other reasonably fast, "semi-chined" OC-1 that can surf, attain or otherwise "teach" side surfing 'n rolling to a crap paddler reasonably well. I'm 5'11", 160 lbs. and carry most of my height in my legs. Whitewater OC-1s are pretty scarce here in SW Ohio so I'm in "beggars can't be choosers" mode.
FWIW, I've been in an Ovation I couldn't stand (tubby and slow), a Rival I really liked and briefly a Viper 12 that felt like it was just itching to punish me for even the slightest indiscretion (at my current skill level). I might eventually want a hard chined boat like a Viper or Ocoee, but not yet.
If you have a boat you're looking to let go or even just leads, let me know; my lady is on board with the idea (!) and I'm dyin' to get into a "real" whitewater open boat.
Thanks,
Phreon
