WTB: Beater (or at least cheap) OC-1

I'm looking to buy an OC-1, but I don't have much extra cash lying around (the joys of working for non-profits...). Anyone have any older/well-loved boats they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price? I'd be happy with almost anything, but would especially be interested in a Probe, Viper, or similar for Class II-IV river running and mild playing. I'm in Boston but spend weekends in NH, and would be willing to travel a little if the price is right. FWIW, I'm 6'1", 180 lbs.

And if you have a whole shed full o' boats, I'm also trying to find a boat for my 5'4", 110 lb girlfriend. Heck, if you've got suggestions on boats she should look at, let me know.

you should by my well loved dagger ovation. it isn't pretty anymore but it will get you down the river. i loved it so much i bought another one! too bad all of you guys on this forum are on the east coast!

Alas, the Dagger Encore on CL has already sold...

There's a CL listing for an Old Town H2Pro in southern VT and a Mad River ME in central/northern VT. I thought the Mad River would be too big for what I was hoping to do (although I guess beggars can't be choosers). Any thoughts on the H2Pro?

If the price is right, and you don't mind an incredibly heavy, but bulletproof boat, the H2 Pro might do what you're looking for. It is by no means a "cutting edge" boat, but if you can stand being a few years out of date, it just might do.

The ME is also an older design, but those who have them are (mostly) hanging onto them. Long by today's solo standards, the boat is nonetheless a good river performer, unless you are looking for a creek boat or a wave hole playboat.

(Note: this message is from an Iowa canoeist who thinks a decent solo boat is a Dagger Dimension. Be advised...)

I know this is my first post, but there's a cool old boat over in rhode island that i almost bought and had shipped down to virginia. The condition was a bit rougher than what I was willing to pay big shipping for, but it might be right up your alley.

The boat is a mad river rampage with wooden gunwales. I love those boats, but i'm not too experienced either. Anyway, here's a link to some pics. I think they're only asking $250...

One of the reasons I didn't buy it. I'd probably take it for $250 for a beater, but not $250+shipping...

All right got to looking at the photos again. THOSE ARE BICYCLE TIRES FOR SKID PLATES!!!!!!!! what bumper boats or do you want to just stop fast when you hit anything. This is the oddest thing I have seen in a long time.

believe it or not, that is actually the best bicycle tire skid plate job i've seen. yes, i have in fact seen worse, in person on section 9 of the french broad. the ones i saw were just bolted on in two places, leaving the rest of the tire (and it was a bigger, mtn bike tire flapping around in the water. imagine my concern when at the put-in the guy who was in the boat asked us if we could show the way down.....
