The kayaker did get reunited with his boat, but he was lucky we had a paddler in a Caption who could ferry him to it. He flipped at the start of a section of continuous water and his boat went over 1/3 mile before it could be corralled and was on the opposite side of the river from him. Oddly enough, the same thing happened to another kayaker last year at the same spot. Both flipped in super shallow water and, with their boats upstream of their bodies, couldn't roll up against the current. A fellow canoeist was saying we should call ferrying a kayaker in a canoe like this the "ferry of shame."
