Re: youth paddle
Totally clear on that. I'm impressed by the amount of wood you removed from the 5/4 using the draw knife. Now, Roy...Roy is evidently good with the bow drill.

Adam, I love this. What thickness board did you use? ...standard 3/4" or 1"?

Re: youth paddle
Exactly. A Werner Bandit or Nantahala with half a blade remaining would be ideal to cut down. I've been offered a Bandit. I need a couple more, in Atlanta, if anyone nearby has a seriously worn out Werner. I tried reducing a new Mohawk paddle. It still weighed too much after removing a lot of its or...

youth paddle
Please recommend a youth canoe paddle.
It has to be light and have a smaller blade than an adult paddle.
A 48" Bending Branches Twig would do nicely but BB stopped making them.
There seems to be a hole in the market between little kids' and adults' paddles.

Looking for very young paddling companions
My wife and I are looking to paddle with fellow whitewater boaters who canoe with 4 to 8 year-olds in the Southeast. Our six-year-old would appreciate some company his own age on day trips and overnights. We generally run whatever's running. Also, in lieu of paddling, let's swap the nippers' outgrow...

Re: "best" tripping boats?
I have no complaints with the Appalachian we've had for years, however, the Dumoine I once test paddled at Swift seemed noticeably more efficient. My 50# kid has outgrown riding as a passenger in my MR Guide and he's not yet paddling (well, not constructively anyway) so I've adapted a Synergy and a ...

Weld-On Easy Twist tool for opening epoxy can lids
Here's a nice simple tool for opening stuck screw-on lids of epoxy & resin cans. I came across it in the plumbing isle of the hardware store, next to the cans PVC cement http://weldon.com/applicators-accessories/other-accessories/easytwist/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Adios, slip ...

Re: need photo of a glassed-in anchor
Thank you, Nick! Those are in the right neighborhood. And gosh those Elfs look like joy on water.
Keep 'em coming, folks. Still need a photo of an anchor or tie-down made out of lighter duty cord glassed into a hull. --tw

need photo of a glassed-in anchor
Can I please get some photos of tie-down anchors glassed into a composite hull? Preferrably some lighter duty ones, like for a bag cage rather than for thigh straps. Something using 1/4" rope might be ideal. Thanks! --tw

Re: softer minicell
> minicell is available in 2 lb and 3 lb density. the 2 lb is soft and is what is used in most outfitting. That jibes with my scale. A 7 sq ft chunk of NOC's 2" minicell foam weighs 2.25 lbs. That's 2 lbs/cf. And it's good & firm! Density might not distinguish the softer lighter gray foam from this....

Re: softer minicell
I like that suggestion, Gary. Camping foam...you mean, sold as a sleeping pad? Of course I called Sweet a while ago. I've always gotten the softer of the two types they sell. It matches the minicell that NOC sells. Forgive me if I post this question again in six months or so. Somebody might have a b...

The foam often used for pedestals...the kind that is softer and lighter gray color compared to regular minicell...what is it called and where does it come from? --Tom
