More on Millbrook...

I've also paddled the Reactor some. Great open boat. A little tippy at first but great fun.

Millbrook

I also recommend Millbrook Boats. They're fairly popular on the New England Slalom Series scene. I currently own a C-1 Stiletto (a slow turner but otherwise a fast and fine boat for the sort of paddling I do) and a K-1 Sonic. Both are great boats which I paddle both at races and when I'm running riv...

Re: Monkey See...

Early on the last race day I was watching folks do some practice runs and one of them misses a gate right there. Too bad. Nope, he comes out of the right side eddy and surfs a tiny wave back up to the left side eddy (how come I never saw that before?) and takes another whack at it. Cool! Long slalom...

Years Paddling

I'm 19 (almost 20!) and have been paddling ww since I was 12. Almost 8 years in kayak, 2.5 in C-1 (although I just learned to roll this fall!) and 0C-1. Began C-2ing just this fall. Neither of my parents paddle and actually think whitewater paddling is somewhat crazy. They have always been supportiv...

My advice...

...for obtaining a bombproof roll in the pool is to attend a couple of crowded college pool sessions like the ones here at Dartmouth. A small pool filled with twenty kayakers all trying (with varying degrees of success and control) to throw down creates a few river- like conditions. Namely: 1. Turbu...

Re: Some truth to that

This is one of the many reasons I hope to make it to some slalom races next year-to be whooped by Kaz not doubt, but I'm sure I'll learn a lot. . If you beat Kaz, we'll have to throw you a party or something. We need some people to come challenge him before he grows too confident or lazy! Good thin...

Thanks All

For the great advice! We're a little behind some of you in that I am just mastering my pool roll this winter (didn't miss one tonight, though!) and will need to move on to a river roll from there this spring. My partner's roll is better, though, and we've got all winter in the pool three or four tim...

Thanks!

Sir Adam, Your help is appreciated. I do know Peggy. Quite well, actually, as I work with her on the Mascoma Race. I'll see if she has any extra supplies laying around or if she or David might be willing to help me with a roll / outfitting. Otherwise, I'll try ordering foam, etc. If you'd be willing...

Re: boatin

i dont know evelyn, can we trust two kids from Hangover New Hampshire in a glass boat??? ABB An essential part of my Ivy League education is learning how to paddle whitewater while still slightly hungover. At least I'm not planning to cut the ends off my C-2 and paddle it down the New Haven as you ...

C-2 Roll and Outfitting

What I have: 1. An older C-2 (paddled in the 89 Worlds, hull in perfect shape) 2. A C-2 partner who's willing to train and do work on the C-2 What we don't have: 1. Proper outfitting 2. A roll So, here's my questions: 1. Does anyone have advice on how we should go about mastering our C-2 roll in the...

Yes, pool sessions can be quite amusing.... some of the guys in my paddling club do so many enders and tricks that the lifeguards end up deciding that we're determined to drown ourselves and give up and end up falling asleep on the benches beside the pool. The best time, though, was when one of the ...

At my college we have pool sessions four times a week. Twenty kayakers and one C-1er (me) taking over the Olympic-sized pool in winter is quite the spectacle... the diving team always blames us for leaving leaves and other debris in the pool.

Hospital Visit

On the Cascade Falls Slalom note, my leg is doing better.... serves me right for running the falls in a kayak. Next time I'll be in a C-1!

Stiletto and Atom Skirts

Does anyone know where I might find a skirt to fit the Atom? The cockpit is an unusual size, and someone told me that they are no longer manufacturing skirts that fit the Atom. Anyone know where I could buy a used Atom skirt? Also, anyone have any information on how I might obtain a new or used skir...
