Taking kids to the Hiwassee-what else around non-boating?

Taking our raft and kids (2,3,5) to the Hiwassee next week. Camping at either HO or Gee Creek. Any suggestions on other things to do in the area to keep kids entertained? Any short waterfall hikes or ???
How about eateries in the area?

I've been struggling with this recently. Been thinking of taking the kiddos (5,3,2) to the Hiwassee in Aug. I have a raft so I'm not too worried, surprisingly my wife is even less worried. They love flatwater floats and do well in the boat. Hmm, we'll see.

You make a short, STABLE, decent handling creeker out of PE and I think you'd have pretty much the whole C-community gushing over you!

Only on the river once??? I might actually have been there for that. An older gentleman had a brand spankin new zephyr at the Elkhorn putin. Primary stability was a little lacking for the poor guy, couldn't stay upright at all. Flipped a few times and pulled out. It was in the fall '06 (in line with...

That is such a cool camera angle. As an aspiring cboater, I think my comprehension of strokes was elevated a notch just watching that!

Now get that puppy in a pool and record some rolls!

Tried to get one, but after being blown off by 3 different retailers I gave up. Seems like not very many people care to do special orders. Could have ordered straight from the manuf, but by that time I decided to go a different route and am currently having a Pothole built.

I'm no help since I'm a newbie also, but I can tell you that there are 2 entries for the large flirt in the museum. Just follow the link on the main page and look under C1 conversions.

In regards to the shafts. How stiff is the carbon shaft? How about the glass shaft?

I would like some flex to keep my shoulders happy.

Question about raising cockpit rim

What area do you heat when raising the rim? The area right below the combing or the area next to the combing where it rounds to make the sidewalls?
I'm working on outfitting a Mamba, just need an inch or two. I would much rather be locked in by foam at my hips and quads rather than a cockpit rim!
