Question about raising cockpit rim

Post by bellotti »

What area do you heat when raising the rim? The area right below the combing or the area next to the combing where it rounds to make the sidewalls?
I'm working on outfitting a Mamba, just need an inch or two. I would much rather be locked in by foam at my hips and quads rather than a cockpit rim!

I'd say go far - IE close to the sidewalls.... or wherever the top of the kayak slopes down towards the cockpit rim... most boats usually have a trough around the rim... (I'm assuming combing=rim).......

Try and stay as far away from the rim, you want to minimize the change in shape so you maintain your seal w/ your skirt.
