Re: Hornet and Magnet comparisons
Just for the record, Bob P is the designer of the Hornet. I met him once several years ago in the Ingles parking lot in Bryson City. I started talking to him because he had several unusual cboats on his racks. I told him that we had 2 Hornets and thanked him for the design. we had a great discussion...

Dagger Ovation wanted
I am looking for a Dagger Ovation. The hull must be in very good condition. I am not concerned about any outfitting, gunnels, thwarts, etc-I can repair or replace any of these parts. I am in NC, but will travel a reasonable distance.
thanks

The measurements that I gave were actual thwart lengths. I will give additional measurements that shows the distance from the bow(actual royalex) to the center of the thwart: bow to thwart thwart length 13 12 3/4 36 20 3/4 78 1/2 24 97 1/2 20 1/2 123 1/2 11 I paddled mine (with the thwarts shortened...

I would use a kevlar skid plate kit for the stern. Follow the directions closely and it will work fine. I use West system Epoxy for most royalex repairs. I think the key to good adhesion is a)cleaning the royalex thoroughly and then using acetone LIGHTLY to remove any chemical , oil or other substan...

I have been using Mitchell paddles for years-refinished them all the time.Sand the shaft lightly-start with 80, then 100 and finally 120. don't take off wood-just the finish and gray spots. After you sand the shaft, use masking tape and newspaper to cover the blade and handle. Use spray polyurethane...

I was on Team Dagger when the Ovation was first introduced by Dagger. My wife and I both got one of the first boats available and still paddle them today. I talked with Steve Scarborough about the boat, it's characteristics and how/why it was designed. he told me the boat had been designed as an all...

my wife(Laura) and I have paddled C-2 together since 1985. we bought a Seda end holer from John Dolbear at NOC after watching the Haller brothers(Lecky and Fritz) race C2 on the Nanny. We went through 4 or 5 Hydra duets , a Grokshark, had a Patriot custom made for us and then had Dagger build a cut-...

I have had very good luck using the kevlar felt that comes with crunch pad kits. There are two sizes available--"whitewater" and "expedition". The expedition size is almost twice as long as the standard size. Both kits come with 2 part epoxy . Follow the directions. One additional thing is to stretc...

OC2 outfitting-Nexus
I have always had good luck outfiting tandem boats using a combination of the methods noted above. I would agree that maximum manuerivability is achieved by putting the paddlers closer together. In our c-2, the stern paddler(me-175#) is exactly one arm's length behind the bow paddler(her-135#). We h...
