Swim without flipping

Several years ago I was paddling on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Somewhere on the Numbers section, around #4, there is a great ender spot. The group stopped for lunch and i decided to practice enders in my Atom. I had done quite a few enders already, when Bernie, the C1er from Dayton with the sho...

Skip C1

Erin, i weigh 150 -155 lbs and have paddled a Skip conversion for 3 years. A gal in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio, paddles a Skip conversion - she turned me on to the boat. She weighs about 120 lbs. i used the same outfitting method she had used, copied from an NOC cboat instructor. the boat inside is...

make me think of some of my U Yough trips

David, Your narrative made me think of my first time down the U Yough. My first time down, years ago, I was paddling an Atom out of that river rightish eddy below Bastard. i attempted an offside ferry - totally blew it, thinking I could do excactly what a kayaker before me had just done, and then , ...

Lower Yough, August 13-14

Paul, I'm going to be down in Ohiopyle that weekend also. I'm leading a trip for the Columbus paddling club on the Lower both weekend days. We are putting on before 8 AM both days. The husband and wife C-1ers from Cols that I paddle with are also coming. (I used her Skip at Swimmer's before I bought...

Skip C1

Mike, It is the same. I've got more boats than time to paddle them all so I'm doing some thinning of the fleet. And yes, it does have great outfitting. The foam outfitting is probably worth almost as much as the shell. And I still do have the old K seat though putting that all back together would be...

I'm heading to Gauleyfest this weekend. Haven't had time to paddle lately so I need to get out. And I've still got that Pyranha C1 to sell. Maybe the New on Saturday if it's not way high. I haven't looked at levels lately. I will probably be at Battle Run camping. Nothing definate at this point beyo...

Upper Gauley

I plan on being down at Gauleyfest- I've got a Cboat to sell. Would be up for the Upper on Sunday. Depends on the time of day, Saturday. I generally avoid any part of the Gauley on Saturday, heading to the solitude of the New R. If you are doing an early Saturday run on the U Gauley that might be go...

lap Belt

A couple of thoughts on what has been said on this subject. I have tried thigh straps placed higher up the leg, and also a double thigh strap system. There is no tighter fitting in a boat than with thigh straps set high up the thigh for keeping your butt on the seat. I use a thigh strap set higher u...

Neal, I'm definately heading down for the festival. I don't know today if I'm in for Saturday on the Lower or Sunday on the Upper, or both. The New R. is where I've often escaped to on Gauley Fest Saturdays. My delimna is a new girlfriend, who incidentally has paddled the Lower Yough six times in a ...
