Re: What size Remix?

I am 6' 1 185 and have a 69, i would think the 59 is way too big for somewhat that tiny. Maybe a MAmba-small one as I know a female butt boater who must weigh about 105.

Wick and Dean

aWick Walker and Dean Tomko, Wick was technical, analytical and got it done. Dean was the guy who would and could paddle thru anything and if not somehow pulled it off. In the early 80's I remember Wick pointing out my sloppy K1 technique to my brother and said not to paddle like Dave. When I switch...

Remix 69

I am 185 lbs, 6' 1" and paddle the 69, the 79 would be too big for me. I would like a more of a flat hull maybe like a Mystic. I had a WS Z which was stable but slow. I like the upfront volume of the Remix, turns well but I don't paddle enough anymore to handle the displacement like hull. Still miss...

remix 69

I am 6'1" and 188 and love the 69, it seems big to me and I am glad I didn't go with the 79. For handling I love the boat, handles pourovers well with volume upfront. Will hold a line in big water if you have to make a cross current move.

what excuse can we use?

I am very tight with Northwater straps, they run right above the knee and higher up on the thigh. Also, have a minicell machine that spreads my knees wide so that when I flip I can tense then knees and I don't move a bit. To a butt boater I might say that"dam outfitting is why..." In 1990 I did get ...

Remix 69

I am 57 6-1 and 189lbs. Love the boat, rolls easily, fun to paddle and the volume in the bow makes vertical drops over pourovers much less to worry about. I had been in a WS Z for 8 years and the Remix is more of an old school feel of the displacement hulls. I did a pedestal with a Kevlar sleeve in t...

Rockville road

I've had a Forester down there, the road is much better than years ago. Either would be fine, I used to take a 71 Nova to Rockville and worried I would make it out, but the pull of paddling was stronger. Could worry about the shuttle after we got off the water.hmmn...

Hudson vs Cheat and New

Having done the Cheat and Hudson maybe 20 times each and the New a few here's my take. I would say the Hudson and Cheat are comparable with the Cheat getting a nod overall. Both 4-5 hour days at low water and remote gorges. The New at minus 2 to plus 3 feet is pretty much go where you want, not alot...

COME DOWN IN THE SPRING

Pain Boater,
Plan a trip for late March-mid April and we could get a run in on the Hudson and Lower Moose. could watch the gauges to get a decent level for the Moose, that time of year would be good for the Hudson. If we choose to maybe could share a ride to Gauley next year.

I'll be there

Count me in for Sat's run on the Hudson, I will probably stay over and leave early Sunday. Unless it rains... I have a Remix 69 that I have used one weekend.

breakdown

In 30 + years I've needed it twice. I have an rafting paddle that I snagged on a a trip, sawed it in half. I then fitted a piece of dowel for a spllint and carry it in the boat at all times. Yearly I replace the wrap of duct tape just to keep it fresh. Same idea works for spare ski pool on a pack in...

glue

You can use weldwood on just a small spot area or two, then when you are happy with the position go full coverage. Just finished a Remix 69 and will use it on the Upper Yough this weekend!

Kevlar sleeve worked great

I am deconstructing a WS Z C-1 and am putting the parts into a Remix 69. I put a 32 " Kevlar piece on the cockpit floor from the deck, across the floor and up the other side to the deck. It worked great for attaching, D rings, knee cups, straps, esp the Northwater 2 point strap where there is tensio...

displacement haul conversion-which one?

I recently was in a Pyrhanna Micro for a half day on the Grand and loved the feel of the haul. I converted a WS Z years ago and while the boat is stable and surfs well I think I would like to get back to a round haul. I paddle the Upper Yough, Gauley, Big Sandy, Kennebec, Hudson but don't get out mo...
