Look for other places to search for used OC1s

Any Boat, Gear, or outdoor related item you have for sale. If you use it on a paddling trip, or to prepare for one, it's fair game.

Look for other places to search for used OC1s

Post by mcoombs »

Hi, beside this board, can anyone recommend some good places to look for used OC1s? Are there some other boards/lists that are often used? I'm located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and willing to drive a few hours into Montana or BC to get a boat. Thanks

For local stuff try posting on calpaddle, its mainly kayakers but they may know of open boats:

Aquabatics in calgary are also hosting a gearswap end of april, you might have some luck there.

You could also try posting on the forums on the kayakwest site, again mainly kayakers, but worth trying.

For local stuff thats all I can really think of, I'm sure someone else has more info. For US, no idea, you could post/search on boatertalk gearswap page for ads in montana, but again, mostly kayaks.

You should take a look at the Mountain Equipment CO-OP site
www.mec.ca

Go to the "Connect" tab and then use the "Online Gear Swap" link on that page. Once you get to the Watersports section you can narrow the search to Canoes. You'll see a lot of tripping boats but there are usually a few WW boats too.

Another option is to use Google to search the Craigs List site. You can limit the Google search to that website by adding "site:craigslist.org" to the search criteria.

A third options is the classified ads at www.paddling.net
Again, lots of tripping boats with the occasional WW thrown in.

Hope this helps.

In addition to MEC, I'd check on myccr.com (Canadian Canoe Routes), not just searching the classifieds, but a post as you've done here.

And get in touch with local whitewater clubs, I'm pretty sure there's a kayaking club in Lethbridge that would probably know of any open boaters.

And KanFest is coming up near Canmore, so whoever organizes that might have an active forum of somekind.

Good luck, PY.
