The Ladore-Split Mountain section of the Green is a permit only. However, you might check with the powers that be and see if they have any permits returned.
If you are interested in driving a bit further, the Lower Salmon (ID) is typically a 4 day run, 71 miles from Hammer Creek or 60 miles from Pine Bar on the Salmon with the take-out at Heller Bar on the Snake River. Permits are sign up at the put in. The Salmon is always runnable, except when it exceeds 25,000 - 30,000 cfs due to Slide rapid. The river is running 55,000cfs, but should be about 10,000 cfs or less by August.
