Wheelboy review

The fatboy is a c-1 riverrunner/ planning hulled creeker.

It is heavily based on Wheelboy feeling but a lot faster (longer) more forgiving and highly boyant. The tail is kind of pintail. Bow is pointy and uptillted, edeges more forginving. Security bars and carabine attcment points for river rescue.

I base the hull displacement and plane 85 % on WB so it has awesome surf, looseness and spin. Tracking is improved by adding more leading bow. But the feel is somethig none of has never experienced, it is aesy and dry ride.

I can not promise when it can come out. We have to finance most of it from WB sales or preorders.

Yuo are right the smoking deal is over. prepare roughly for extra 150 or so ......

more orders is always cheaper to ship.... 10 boats would go about 1000.... only my estimate though

I finally got my WB out to a play hole today! (for about 20 minutes before my borrowed, 30 year old sprayskirt fell apart

)

All I can say is, OH MY GOD! This boat is so cool! I was instantly able to do things that i could never do before. It is so incredibly stable, smooth, and balanced in a hole! I've never paddled anything like it. The volume distribution is brilliant. It felt a little weird when i first got in the water, 'cause none of the converted kayak playboats I've paddled have that volume behind your hips. But man, the first ride in that hole and I knew I was in love the WB

I can't wait to get it out again(if my new sprayskirt ever shows up

If you want a C1 playboat, you have got to get a WB! Conversions suck. I am not kidding around here.... Just get one!
I was actually seen KISSING my WB today!

BTW- it is noticably faster than my Flipstick, which is narrower and the same length.

and..... I don't know about everyone else, but falling over in eddies.....or rolling up and falling right over again... that's a thing of the past now.

Larry,

I have a vivid picture in my mind of you kissing your WheelBoy ... Fantastic! It's going to a few weeks before I can put mine in some water

It's a good thing I have a bright lime green WheelBoy so the Yakkers can see it in action.

As for the rest of you folks, buy those WheelBoys because I want a FatBoy next! I need a solid river runner and Marko has the designers touch.

Note: I may have a fleet of C1 kayak conversions for sale this spring...

I forgot if I know... what do you weigh, how tall are you? Glad you're digging the WB.

Adam - how about a stat's page being made available on the memberlist, so we can get a reference about boat reviewers that are members? Could include size, weight, yrs paddling, boats paddled, etc. Just thinkin'...

I'll consider it. It's actually something that is up and coming with a revision to CBoats, but in a different fashion. Hopefully it'll come to fruition sometime this winter before I get distracted boating again

How about a review forum, keyed to the listings on the boats pages? The review "forms" could have entires for height, weight, experience, date, where tested (if applies), etc... Rather than key the height and weight to the reviewer, tie it to the review - some of those factors (weight, experience) can change over time. Just a database geek thinking out loud...

Scott (and everyone else)-that's exactly what Ken's built for me...sort of. It's actually a form that can be submitted and include boat stats, reviewer stats, comments, and images, and enters into a database (when I "ok" it...) that populates the web pages. To start out with it will be for CONVERSION boats, as i know we get a lot of questions on those around here, but we will be opening up all the old boat pages as well once I've converted them and we add the next step of letting folks add comments to boats already posted (one step at a time here...).

I'll be e-mailing a few folks in a month or two (hopefully) with the beta link to try and and offer improvement ideas. But that's what's in the works this winter....
