Seeking pics for outfitting

Post by Shep »

I am working on the website for the Arkansas Canoe Club's WW School, and want to put together some photos of appropriate tandem and solo outfitting... If you have something similar to what I describe below, and don't mind me publishing the photo on the web, I would really appreciate it! Looking for:

Tandem boat outfitted with bow and stern flotation, and traditional canoe seats (not a saddle).
Same with center flotation
Photos could be airbags or non-airbags (old-school styrofoam?), a variety is what I am looking for.

Solo boat outfitted with a traditional canoe seat.

Thanks!

Harry, I think your setup would be a great example of a cross between traditional and whitewater-specific outfitting... Do you have any photos?

Thanks,

Shep I have some photos of a Cascade that might fit the bill, except that the solo configuration uses a kneeling thwart instead of a seat.

Thanks for the pics.

Can you tell me more about your strap set up?

Are you using tubular webbing? What buckle are you using?

Virgil I believe it's called scuba webbing. It's made by BlueWater, you can find it at scuba suppliers. If you have trouble finding it, just let me know. It's 2" wide, flat (not tubular), and has a good texture or "tooth" to it. It works really well with buckles. Tubular webbing is slicker (less tooth), thicker, and more flexible -- so it doesn't work as well.

The buckles are scuba belt buckles I picked up in a local dive shop. I drilled little holes in the release tabs and added the wooden knobs to make them easier to release blindly. Pulling up on the free end of the webbing will release the buckles just fine, but I wanted something that was easier to grab, plus I just like to tinker and make stuff.

Nice work! I will definitely use both the solo and tandem outfitting as examples of acceptable whitewater outfitting. Thanks!
