What did you use for an insert and where did you buy the hardware?

The insert was a piece of polycarb plastic tubing I had around the shop. I would probably have used aluminum if I had not had that piece, as I did the day after making a kayak break down for my friend. The telescoping tube locks came out of broken snow shovel, but they are available here http://www.mcmaster.com/#92988A530" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I just used some standard two part epoxy to hold the insert in place. I can fit this in both my ledge and taureau and it is a 60" two piece.

I had something similar (but with aluminum insert) made for me by Jamie Dors at paddlesportrepairs.com. It fits in a Sfly or l'edge. Fewer pieces is preferable in my books.

I see the direction of this post has changed slightly. Cool with me, whatever helps my fellow paddlers get what they need. You guys that are willing to cut a paddle to try to make your own two or three piece, my hat is off to you. Not that brave.

Well, I went with Austin Canoe and Kayak, mainly because they also had a Seals cockpit seal for my wife's new Pyranha Z.ONE. May as well ship from one place and save a little cash. Cost was $139.00, and it should be here on Tuesday.

Thanks again for the help everybody.

See ya,

Rob
