Assuming the gasket replacement is easy enough to allow this and would sustain it, people could have a rubber gasket and also 'Put-in' neoprene "comfort gasket" for less wet days, according their preferences for strangulation/dryness.

Your concept is very good. Adapting a well respected seal system.

Most open canoeists will favour using a full suit over either pants or a top but it looks like your design is really a full suit that just opens fully at the waist so canoeists and others (SUP, sea kayaker, etc.) should like it.

Gaskets I would suggest are a bigger issue than zippers and I think your gasket idea is super providing the seal does not add to much extra bulk. It would be easier to sell one of your suits used because of the gasket system.

The big question to me is will your waist system be easier than a zipper?

Great name as well.

I also like Pat suggestion of an optional "comfort gasket" for those less immersion days (wilderness trip, instructing, etc.).

maybe one other thing that would be great, that I would use, is to some sort of waist belt/suspenders for the pant to be worn on there own, as an instructor, I have to wade in the water so help student in some situations, and on easier water, or really warm days(up here, even the warmest day, the water is still really cold...)I could use the pants with out the top until I need the top for harder section of river...

I'm geting a pair of Whirlpool GTX bib from Kokatat for that exact reason!!

Looks good, I've talked about that idea numerous times over the years, but never really figured anyone would take the idea and run with it.

My major query is: how hard/stiff is the seal at the waist? and How likely is it to open unintentionally when the two parts of the suit are pulled apart?

I do like the idea, as it's hard to justify both a cag and a drysuit, that's the price of a brand new boat invested in just two pieces of "soft" gear.
