Slippery Rock Creek Clinic June 1 & 2

Post by PAC »

The Slip Clinic is fast approaching - June 1st & 2nd, and we look forward to seeing a number of canoests there. Usually we get between 15 to 30 open boaters at this event with very good ratio of instructors to class size. Training is held on either Slippery Rock Creek http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... l/id/1663/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or Connoquenessing Creek (no AWA data on this one... what's up with that??).

Meeting and Camping is at Breakneck Campground http://breakneckcampground.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and the serve a great breakfest and dinner (its on you).

More info for signing up can be found at the TRPC web site. http://threeriverspaddlingclub.com/Word ... ip-clinic/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The following link comes through the courtesy Kelvin Horner and you are encouraged to thoroughly review the lessons that are full of easily understood and well represented tips that could dramatically improve your paddling.

http://www.sweet-skills.com/articles.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The "Sweet Skills" coaching concepts includes a very good video that should be viewed before (and possibly during) the lessons. After opening the link, click on "home" to watch the video.

For those of you who are coming to the clinic, please make an effort to get out on the water as much as possible to get your “river legs” ahead of time.

If you can paddle like the guy in the video, call me and you can be "Head Instructor". If your skills aren't as developed, come to the clinic with the goal in mind that you can paddle like him if you're willing to push your limits.

We’ve had really good water this spring but keep doing your “rain dance” for the next few weeks.

Enjoy the lessons; hope to see you on the water soon.

Questions? Just call or email (PM).

Type "canoeable streams in western Pennsylvania" into the google and it brings up a whole lot of real time gauge info for most all the waters in our region on one convenient page. I really want to attend this clinic, I've heard a lot of good things. If A Duie Pyle can deliver another Probe 12 and not destroy this one too! :(
If it's a little low I'm still gonna go.

Hi PAC---this sounds like fun, and I'm going to try to make it up from Morgantown. I've known about Slippery Rock Creek for decades but never paddled it. Is it generally all open boaters? I'd be willing to do some teaching, but I'll be in a C-1. :wink:
