A couple of months ago, my wife and I picked up a nearly new, unoutfitted Vertige X. Near perfect condition. The guy I bought it from had hung traditional canoe seats in it. Did not care for how it paddled. Now it's mine.
Here is where I need help. The boat has both end thwarts, but no center thwart. Needless to say, it's pretty flimsy in the middle. What would help me is, the width in the center, outside to outside, on the gunwales. Esquif says the boats width is 33", but I'm not sure where that measurement is taken. I'm guessing it's probably the width of the hull.
Also, the image on their website shows the boat to be set up a bit bow light. Am I seeing that correctly? Considering I'll be putting my wife in this canoe, I like to get it set up right.
Any help y'all can give me is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
EDIT: I contacted Esquif on 1/5/15 by email, just have not heard from them yet. Forgot to put that in here last night.

Re: Vertige X owners-I need some help
Just measured mine, the width of the boat at the center thwart, outside to outside, factory vinyl gunwales = 31 inches.
As for being bow light, the lighter the bow the dryer they run. I've enjoyed soloing mine where the front 3' are clear of the water and with light people in the bow and I prefer it bow light. Good boat, you should enjoy it a lot.

Re: Vertige X owners-I need some help
Thanks Aaron. That helps me big time. I plan on dropping two bulkheads in it, and will probably hold them down with thwarts. Depending on how things go, there may, or may not be, one in the center. That measurement will help me keep the specs right no matter what I do.
I'm sure I'll see ya if you're at ALF again this year.
Thanks again.
