Northwest Paddle Fest 2017
Calling PNW paddlers! Come out to the inaugural Northwest Paddle Fest this summer in Washington! Blackfly will be on hand with boat demos, canoe deliveries, free instructional clinics, and of course, tacos.
We had such a blast paddling with everyone last summer that we're going to try to do it every summer! See you in Methow!

Well, you've got the ShinDig Brian. Do you still have the ShinDig? I always meant to show up at that sometime.
Thanks Cheeks/Blackfly (and other instigators)! This is 15 years overdue for my paddling, but better late than never!! Hopefully a PNW gathering will do good things and carry over throughout the season!
What will be the dates for the Northwest Paddle Fest at the Methow?
Pat.

Do you know where it will be Cheeks? Wade and myself will be driving out. Any small camping cabins recommended, or should we plan on camping?

Wendy, the Event will be held in N. Central Washington, on the Methow River, plus other local streams.Wendy wrote:Do you know where it will be. . . should we plan on camping? . . .
Get onto a map of WA, and draw a straight line between Spokane and Bellingham, then look roughly half way between, for the tiny community of Twisp.
I've never looked into cabins/motels, but the camping is excellent, and the weather should be hot and dry!
Be prepared to mix with Oregonians, Washingtonites, and British Columbians, all of whom are fluent in the North-Western dialect.
Best of all, to celebrate international togetherness, the dates will include both Canada Day on July 1, and Independence Day on July 4th!
See ya there!

The campground is Loup Loup, east of Twisp:Wendy wrote: . . . Is there a specific campground?

It's a lovely site, and it's at a higher elevation than the river. Following a hot day on the river, it's nice to camp in a cooler site.

Re: Northwest Paddle Fest 2017
Depends who ask. There will people in drysuits out of habitat - nice to have you want to risk some flips or if the weather isn't perfect. And there will be people without drysuits. If the weather is hot, as it often is, you might see a few people in shorts & t-shirts.
Basically, you can't go wrong! Although, weather aside, I don't recall how icy the specific rivers are - some warm up a bit, others are always freezing. Drysuit is a safe bet, but wetsuit etc. would be OK.
How's that for a non-answer?

I didn't make it to Methow last year (super excited) but for the rest of the PNW, I went drytop all summer. I don't think I wore a drysuit once. To put my cold water tolerance into perspective, I also wore a drysuit for the last two ALF races, but that's about as cold as I'll go
