Anyone got a Shaman in NC I can try.

Post by riverratrsf »

I haven't canoed whitewater since about 94 and I'd like to get back into it. I paddled a probe 12-2, but it didn't track as well or have as much speed as I like. I want to try a shaman or an outrage and see if they would suit me better. I welcome any advice.
Thanks
Scott

I'm in NC and have a Viper 12 and a Millbrook Defiant that you could test drive. Both track well and are fast. I know a guy who has a Shaman that he had up for sale. I'll see if he still has it.

Scott,

The Defiant is awesome. If you got one every open boater would stop you on the river though. It took David and I 12 hours to run the Nanty because so many people tried his boat. (JK) Though they are hard to come find used (for good reason) By the way, you might also want to consider one of the two Blast for sales. At least to try-

i love the outrage, but it definitely is not a boat that is known for its tracking. the outrage x may be a better choice for tracking & speed. i paddled an outrage for about 5 years, & the thing i loved about it was the ability to turn it on a dime. the length & rocker for this boat give it the ability to change directions very quickly. the shaman appears to be the better candidate for the things you're look for. just my 2 cents.

There's a Shaman for sale on the Carolina Canoe Club page. http://www.carolinacanoeclub.com/wantad ... /1808.html

Yep, that's the boat I was thinking of. I transported that boat from Mohawk's shop in Florida back to NC for Willy.

Many thanks for the help. I'm going to call about the shaman for sale and DAVID I may just take you up on paddling your boats. I've just got to clear a few things on my schedule.
