The Caper was made by Dagger, and according to the info on this site it came out in 1988 and was designed by Steve Scarborough.
Only saw one once in the mid 1990's as a tandem back when I still lived in Switzerland.
The couple that paddled it were not too happy with it and soon replaced it with a Caption.

I remember Steve Scarborough bringing his first Caper
to the Ocoee. I think it was during the summer of 1987. He was letting everybody try it out at Double Trouble. Everyone hung out there because the top hole was great for side surfing and the second wave was a lot of fun. The flood of 1990 changed that rapid and it isn't as good of a play spot now .
The Caper was the first Dagger open canoe if I my memory serves me right. Don't see them much anymore. They've been out of production for a long time. Most are either beat up or used for planters.

dam , you all are a hellva lot smarter than
cetain people on other sites. Caper was Daggers first Canoe and the first Dagger I owned, Trashed it just below Ramsey Cascades on the Middle prong of the Litlle Piegon. Cinco De Mayo is the day that the large French army in Mexico was defeated by a just a few Mexican troop with helf from Mexican Indians, and Pesants the French had them out number two to one but the Mexican still won. Not Indpendance day ( that came later during the Mexican Revolutoion). I don't have the heart to tell my wife and her friend and family that defeating the French even with two to one odd ain't that big of a deal. BTW you what the guy from Maine ask the guy from Tennessee?
Caper
My brother and I bought a caper for our first whitewater canoe and we still have it. It's actually a great boat for teaching and I love to fish out of it on class 1-2 water.
BTW, last year I saw a dude throw a caper into micro eddy on the nanty just above the falls on the left. Needless to say it performs. Had a pic of it but can't find it now
