Just picked up an Ace II

Post by CosmikDebris »

Just picked up an Ace II wildwater boat, looks pretty cool but needs some work. Wayner from the NOC hooked it up, I'll post some photo's soon. Somehow.

I've heard there are few boats 'tippier" than the old Ace II's (the bow should slant down from the cockpit to the bow...check out the race boats page to see Ace II and III s). I hear the "Mustang" is one of them, though...and there was one for sale around here not to long ago....

A wildwater boat will make ANY boat (ok, except perhaps a flatwater race C1 in the high kneeling position) seem stable :o

Strongly recommend checking out WW training camps at

beginning WW paddlers welcome, C-1s needed.

Chute the Hooch is a great opportunity to get some one-on-one coaching from Pinyerd

Yeah, I was planning on doing that actually.
One question that you may be able to answer for me...is it correct to paddle almost entirely on one side and just have a little "offside lean" to counteract the tendancy of the boat wanting to turn?

Yes...

Correct...if you're paddling righty you'll be leaning to the left a bit to go straight...to turn right, lean further left...to go left, straighten the boat....

Have fun:)

Cool, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong and starting some horrible bad habit (of which I'm sure I already have many!).

Wildwater C-1

Post by edg »

Congratulations on the purchase and enjoy. Do you have DSl or other high speed internet access? If so, I highly recommend www.chalaux2005.com. It's the site for the 05 Euro championships, and has video from all the races. Part 1 on July 20 is the top three c-1 juniors. The first part of July 21 is the top three senior c-1's. It's pretty eye opening. Internationally, switching seems to be a matter of personal/national preference. Hope that helps some....edg

Will, you're one crazy Mutha... which means you should be able to do pretty well in the WW boat. Just remember, the faster you go, the easier it is to turn :o

Now if I could just find a WWC-2 :o

Is it for sale, and if so, how much, what condition, etc?

Hey edg, thanks for the link. I watched it today. Man, those guys were amazingly fast :o

Wayner, I'm not really looking. I don't need one. I probably wouldn't paddle it much, but do you know of any old ww C-1's for sale?

ww c-1's

Post by edg »

Mike- Check www.usawildwater.com. Look under "equipment". There's a veritable plethora of ww c-1's for sale, some of them very reasonably priced, and most of them out East. Now if you were only out West, I'd offer a smokin deal on a No-Name :)....edg
