Fat Boy/ Big Boy?
Hey Guys,
Is the Fat Boy and the Big Boy the same boat?
What do you like about the boat? I could not find any specs.
Would this boat replace or be a substiture for a Atom, Cascade and the reasons why. The pictures on their web site of the Big Boy makes it look like a play boat rather than a river runner/ creeker.
THanks for the feedback.
Chuck

Fat Boy vs Big Boy
The Big Boy is a larger version of the Wheelboy, for larger folks (I have an image or two (Thanks Bill!) to put up on the site with the big update (currently scheduled for mid=late Jan. hopefully. Lots of new content, and a few new surprises if Kenneth and I can work out the technical details.).
The Fat Boy is a creek boat that is not in production (that we've heard, anyway), and is currently in the finishing of design and building mold phase (I think...).
So, yes, they are different boats.

Paul,
Was the BigBoy that you paddled composite? Are they now, or will they ever be available in plastic? How much more does a WheelBoy cost than yer typical "domestic" plastic boat? What did you think of the BigBoy- it seems like a good choice for me
Io Saturnalia!

The Big Boy I paddled on the G was composite. Nice lay up and it has a good weight ratio. I think Marko said they will only be composite but he would know better than I! I think one would last if it's paddled like a glass boat and not a plastic one.
As for cost IMO it is compative in my book considering its a full on C1 desgin. You can always get cheaper kayaks here "domestically" so that jades one's thinking (when you are cheap like me). But when I paddled the Wheel Boy I decided to buy one after only 10 minutes in it. The Big Boy was pretty much the same - A very nice ride on the G at flow!
Try contacting Bill R for a demo - per sonally I think you'd like it a lot - even at your size and weight! LOL

Big Boy
Hi Kevin,
Both Marshall and Matt had problems with the seem tape. Mine might have the same problem, to be honest I don't know what to look for.
The bigboy is basically a large wheelboy for the heavier paddler. I would guess 18-24 months before it would be made in plastic- So it would need to be paddled as Paul says, like a glass boat. I would love it if it were in plastic, as I'm a tad on the heavy side for the wheelboy.
I'll be happy to let you demo the boat - Come to the creeking clinic and we'll be set.
As for costs the wheelboys are a little higher than kayaks, because the euro is strong and shipping costs, for the #of boats I sell is high. The Drakkar Kayaks will costs the same unless I could sell 30 or more a month. The glass boats are slightly higher than plastic.
Personally, I'd only like to order plastic boats, since they ship better:) Except the Sith, which we have been able to meet for delivery.
Bill
BTW there is still no release date on the fatboy- which will be a creeker as opposed to a playboat.
