East Race

Post by David Good »

It's like paddling in a ditch...(bring an old paddle the concrete is very rough)

No, it's not really all that bad. The is one real fast wave hole, one decent rodeo hole and another good wave. If you're into playing a lot it's not bad. If you're wanting to get up there and practice river running skills it's not the best. It's only (maybe) 3/4 mile long then a carry back up. If you play for an hour before you wash down then the carry back up is worth it...

I would be there this weekend, if I wasn't going to the Occoee. (That reminds me, there can be a lot of ducky/raft traffic even more than the occoee and the eddies are small, boily and crowded.)

For other activiities there are some nice nite spots / restaurants right there in the middle of town. O ther than that there is Lake Michigan 30 miles away. Indiana Dunes State Park is worth a visit. Do you like to watch corn grow?

I lived in Mich City for 15 years.

till next

east race

I'd say what he said - it's not a bad place, a few good spots, one rodeo hole you'll want to spend time in, easy access, probably warm water. If you are considering running the dam on the opposing channel (a nice long sloping dam) be quick - it's illegal. Bunch of slalom boaters brought the police to the shore this spring.

There is a person who take photos at the "V-Wave" and I found a couple of shots of you. They're not the best pics, but here you go just the same:

East Race Armada?

Post by David Good »

Hey, maybe we should try to get an armada setup for up there. It's a great place to try different boats, not to difficult and lots of play.
