Mike, I don't know what kind of webbing you have, but if you could find some of the stiffer material like the STROC's were made of, I think you'd be happier with your system. You can see in the above photo that the knee strap in the background is rigid and retains its shape so that its easier to slide into. I'm not sure what kind of webbing they used, but I think it is probably polypropylene. I can see where the nylon seat-belt type material would not be desirable because it is almost too pliant and would absorb much more water.

I promise im not trying to keep this thread alive but I..
.. found a set of new in the package original voyaguer STROC straps, where u might ask. AT MY LOCAL BOAT SHOP. I was rooting thru the old canoe stuff in back and found a couple sets. guess i coulda saved some time if i had just tried there first. go figure.
