Green River OC2

Post by CosmikDebris »

Yesterday, my friend JJ Shepherd (a kayaker) and I paddled the Green Narrows in a Mohawk Probe 14. We aren't sure if it has ever been paddled in an OC2 before, but it was awesome and I am surprised it hasn't been. I'll try and post some photo's when I can get a hold of them. We walked Boof or Consequence, Groove Tube, Gorilla, and Sunshine but ran everything else. Major props to JJ who has paddled an OC2 down the Nanty and Pigeon rivers about 8 years ago and is normally a kayaker. Thank god for too much tequilla and drunken sh#$ talking!

Wow, how did it go? Were there any rolls? I heard you guys ran Go Left -- is it true?

Historic.

Way to go Will and JJ!
We are impressed that a K would step it up and have what it take to hop in a OC2 and run the sik.
Oh course a good captain makes a difference too!
Looking forward to the photos to C how it was done since I fur-sure wouldn't go there! Paul C.

I'm not going to say this thread is *useless* without pictures, but it sure would be a lot *better* with pictures! Or video! OC-2 on the Gnarrows is awesome... I don't think I have ever heard of that being done.

There are some mediocre photo's up at http://www2.brevard.edu/lyonsw/oc2.htm. Thanks to Lee Timmons for the pictures, I'm not sure who took them. I'm sure ya'll will get to see some video at some point too, I don't have it right now. These are just a few of the rapids, and unfortunatly no one got a picture at go left, only video. Enjoy.

Did you guys swim anywhere?

I'm impressed with the whole thing but particularly with taking a tandem boat through Frankenstein and Zwicks.

No swims, we had a close call at the bottom of power slide. We were totally full of water but JJ managed to pull a magical subaquatic brace and my t-grip airbrace was totally useless. Our only mishap was a temoporary pin at the race line of Frankenstien where our bow hit a rock and went right instead of left. We recovered and stuck all of our other lines. The most scary rapid was probably Zwick's where we totally filled with water through the top hole. The best sequence had to have been toilet bowl into hammer factor. Anyways, all fun and games, I hope it rains soon so we don't make any more rash decisions...

Will,

I just can't explain how COOL that is!

Those pictures are just great!

Having paddled some limited tandem, I know how challenging it is. I can't imagine running Toilet Bowl through Hammer Factor in an OC-2. It's hard and tight enough in C-1! Same with Frankenstein.

Great job,

Alden
