help-Problem gluing D-Ring patches
I have used Stabond in the past without problem but today when I tried to glue a new D-ring patch in my Caption I used some prety old Stabond and it never got quite dry on the hull or the patch and loosened and lifted the vinyl on my hull. I now have a spot the size of the d-ring patch with the ABS exposed. What next? Will fresh Stabond adhere my D-ring patch to the ABS or am I likely to eat a hole through my boat?
I suggest leaving those bare patches alone for a few warm, dry days, and meanwhile get something known to be safe, like 3M Structural Two Part Adhesive. Hope you don't have to start with new d-ring patches. You could also epoxy short lengths of webbing, ends frayed, directly to the ABS.
My guess is that the Stabond lost part of its solvent with age, and the old remainder was too thick to dry properly. I have used Vynabond for the same purpose, for which it is best to go with two applications, the first having dried thoroughly and the second maybe just dry to the touch.

I googled stabond and found the following. According to these guys it has a one yr shelf life but only a few days after opening.
