You can put a system together for less than a hundred bucks.My detonator has a 750 pump small :-> 5ah battery and float switch wired in series cost pump 28.00 bat 25.00 switch 8.00 I like the float switch because you don`t have to fumble with cutting the switch on and off

Get an electric bilge pump from this site:

http://jtkcanoes.weebly.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The bilge pump brand is an Attwood T1200 with a 5 Ahr SLA battery. It weights about 5.5 lbs fully installed.

The prices are reasonable and the instructions to install the kits are very thorough. It costs $184.00 plus $22.00 shipping. The site has a lot of info on electric bilge pumps for whitewater canoes.

It's great having a electric bilge pump, just go for the biggest waves and blast through the wave trains knowing that the bilge pump will quickly remove any water that comes crashing into your boat.

I have a wet boat (a Probe 12). I used the ColoradoCanoe design,with a Nickel metalhydride battery pack. I sealed the Pelican's wiring holes with a glue gun. Has not failed within a year.I switched to a Pelican case from an Otter box because the Pelican stays dry. My single 1250 was taking nearly two minutes to pump the boat dry after a roll, so I added a second Attwood 1250. Now I'm dry in a minute. One pump is under my Mohawk saddle, the second is right behind the saddle. The water pumps through the hull front and back. I love the setup. It comes in handy at the USNWC(Charlotte)WW Park nearby, and anyplace one tends to flip or get wet. The same battery pack,,even with two pumps, lasts a long time-30 min. of solid pumping?I don't really know exact time

What's a dry line? Pictures:http://btexnelson.blogspot.com/ I'm curious as to the weight of one of the sealed lead-acid batteries.??

i spent the money for a rapid runner system myself...its very nifty and tidy....then i purchased an ocoee, and wanted to bilge it as well...i have less than a $100 invested in this system and its a much bigger pump... not one part of the system in the ocoee are waterproof...they dont need to be because its a DC current setup......

in other words, there is absolutely no reason for the system to be waterproofed...

Just ordered one myself, have not received it yet, specs are sweet. 50 hrs of pumping, battery, charger, hoses dry box all inclusive, not too bad , and easy on the skull, lol.
