Which outfitting, and where from

O.k.

My rodeo has the lap belt and I am going to switch it to thigh straps.

What are my options(i.e. Mike Yee)? And where do I get it?

I need to be a lot more secure in this boat. After paddling the Taureau for awhile I like the that my position is really stable.

I realize that I could do a bulkhead setup but I think I like the idea of thigh straps.

Is mike yee pretty much my only option besides homegrown straps? Are they what esquif uses or do they have their own?

I think Esquif uses Northwater if i remember the fine print correctly from the straps in my Zephyr... I've done home grown a couple of times. You can find a number of sources of suggestions on where to place the anchors...

Northwater has a bunch of styles of thigh straps, and they are first class guys as well. I used their stuff to rig my boat and ran short of materials. I spoke to one of the guys and they got me the missing stuff overnight from Canada. They earned a customer for life and a zealot to boot. Really high quality stuff too.

Shoulder straps from and old backpack, snowboard binding ratchets and lots of pop rivets. It worked great until I tried a bulkhead and never went back.

I have tried it all....Mikey's, Northwater, Old Headwaters, etc. Also have owned Skeeters and Fly's and Taureau's outfitted with bulkheads. Also several C-Boats and converted C-Boats with both straps and Bulkheads. Bottom line is some do work better than others in certain situations, but the positioning of them is MOST important. I inherited a Quake with the original Dagger velcro strap outfitting and immediately converted it to a Nothwater set-up. 100 % improvement!! Bulkheads are very good with or without the addition of straps or lap belt, however they do require much more "tweeking" and adjusting. Also bulkheads are pretty much "paddler specific" in regards to multiple paddler usages. Just my two cents worth..........Barry......
