Why did the open boater cross the road ?................
To get in the symmetrical canoe with more rocker.

Kelvin asked: "I paddle a Zoom and love it, I'd like a little more rocker to give the boat a looser feel. I wondered if the Maxim would give me this."

My Very First Ride in a solo WW canoe was the Ocoee River in a Viper 12. I quite accidentally and PAINFULLY ran both Grumpy's and Diamond Splitter backwards and on the wrong line (river right and left, respectively), so, I was jokingly extolling the advantages of a symmetrical canoe.
However, now I occasionally run some rapids that I am very familiar with; backwards; out of boredom and for practice.

I moved the outfitting back 3 inches in my zoom. It turns a lot better now, but has a slight loss in speed. I may have moved it to far back, I think about an inch forward of where it presently is would be good.
measurements. 60 1/2 inches from center of bow to outside of gunwale. the line crossing that point from gunwale to gunwale is in front of me.
Try the zoom again as it is now, and if it turns better when you lean back, then changing outfitting may do the trick.
