Robson boats

Hey there,
I spoke with Julliette at ERA last week. She said she would consider ordering a Robson boat order. This would include ANY boat that Robson makes....CU fly, Finkmeister, Homes. However, she wanted me to see what interest there was of course. She would need some pretty firm committments.
They had some trouble with customs last time they ordered, and there was a holdup in customs. This cost them $$$ and they indicated they lost $$$ with the last order because of this. She said that now that they know how to deal with Robson, it shouldn't be a problem.. Robson is a small company and apparently didn't apply for some license to ship or something like that.
Any way, anyone interested???

Would it be possible to get an estimate of the final price of an outfitted Robson Homes, whether it would be necessary to pick it up somewhere, and if so where?

over at the St Francis River in MO a couple of weeks ago. Looked like it had real potential with nice outfitting, water transfer tube in the base of the pedestal and minicell side walls. Appeared to be made of the same material that the Esquif Zephyr is (Twintex) but Robson calls it "Armerlite".

No, I didn't get to paddle it. The fellow who owned it said it was the first day in the water for the boat and he thought it was one of only about three in the country. I doubt very much ERA would have one, as they are basically a kayaking enterprise. I don't remember seeing any canoe gear in their outfitting store in the past.

I sent an email to Julliette Kastorff today regarding price, etc. If I get a response, I'll let you know.

Is it true that Robson will factory outfit any of their pods for C1, can anyone confirm? If that is the case I'm thinking real hard about getting in on the order...

I ordered one through a shop I worked at a few years ago and the 'C1 outfiting' was simply an empty shell with sme plastic hip jobbies that weren't even attached. So I would say from my experience that no they will not outfitt as C1, unless they have changed or you consider outfitted as empty. Its a do it yourself job. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I might be interested in a new style Moonster (26" wide, 80 gal. vol) especailly if there is a deep discount for ordering one empty. I have one of the old ones (24" wide and 67 gal) and it is a fairly good C-1 hull, albeit narrow. I was in on the Fink order that ERA did a couple of years ago and the final cost of the boat exceeded expectations (Robson's error not ERA's). Ken and Juliet have always been excellent to deal with and honored their comittments exactly as they stated. There may be some kayak hulls already in country in a warehouse somewhere in Georgia? Are there any US dealers currently?

Chris, have you paddled an Ocoee or a Viper? If so, how did you feel it compared to either of those boats?

I thought that the chines looked a bit less sharp than the Ocoee or Viper, but I may be wrong.

probably the homes closest to you is in alabama. Renee has one that is a demo. Phil Foti might know how to get ahold of her if you really want to try one.
The boat is faster (to me) than the zephyr...edges are different, and it handles very nicely.
If Kanur gets on here, he could tell you how it paddles also.

Just want to say, Renee's is NOT a demo. She may let you try it out at the lake when it's convenient for her to be there to watch you, but please don't try to contact Renee to borrow her boat.

That being said, I would be SERIOUSLY interested in a rotomolded Homes

That twintex/amerlite ain't gonna hold up on southeastern creeks very long.

once owned a Viper.

I thought that the chines on the Holmes were sharper but maybe that is because of the Twintex.

I am a soft chine guy but enjoyed messing with the Holmes.
