New to the board and just want to say hello

Post by junkinduck »

I am from southeast Ohio. I am taking a WW canoe course this Aug. I am looking for open boaters in the New River area to boat with after I learn not to suck water and die. I hope to be able to boat in the west Penn. and West VA. areas.

Good luck, those areas have great rivers ideal for learning.

Welcome - if you can, try and make one of the Armadas or ALF sometime - each get-together is different, but the one thing they have in common is a lot of friendly paddlers willing to talk boats and technique incessantly, help each other out, and have a good time on the water.
Keep the C!

Welcome aboard Don, always good to see a new face (not to imply that all of you with old faces are harsh on the eyes). :)

Welcome Don.

I am also new to the site, just joined a few weeks ago. I am kayaker convert to OC-1, I am always looking for folks to paddle with in WV. I live in Morgantown, WV (North) part time and in Alderson, WV (south) part time. So I am always up for hitting up the new or any WV river. I can paddle most Class 3-4 stuff, so happy to show you what very little I know.

Also, any northern WV boaters on here? Trying to find some people to boat with on a consistent basis, I would love to get out more often, so anyone drop me PM about paddling!

Thanks,

Fritz

Hey, what do you know. The only two people I know on this forum, and here they are in the same thread.

Don Beyer, meet Fritz (kabuki_blaze). Good friend of mine and it looks like he's paddling canoes now.

Fritz, meet Don. He's a pretty good engineer and a darn good paddler.

If you guys end up on the river together, let me know, and I'll come join (though you'll probably have to rescue me a few times - I don't think my skills will measure up).

Devin.

I'm a class 3/3+ open boater in Athens, though I don't get out consistently - too many other demands on my time. Will be at the Yough for the early part of next week, though. I keep trying to get on some of the cool, winter/spring runs in WV, but life/family always seems to intervene. The weekends I end up available, either nothing is running or no one wants to go. I guess that's what happens when you're an ohioboater :).
