I am 6'3 and 225, I am paddling the esquif detonator right now, I think the smaller boat handles my weight well. I have not had it on a class IV creek yet, but a few runs down the Lower Yough and the Dry Fork, it has proven to be a very good boat for me. I demoed a stock Ocoee and it was also awesome, that's why I wanted one, but ended up getting a modified Ocoee, which was great in the bigger water, but I had issues with it on the creekier stuff.

I look forward to taking out the detonator on some steeper stuff and see how it does. It is basically the Nitro as TonyB mentioned, but shorter..

Do we hear a Maxim X?

Yeah TonyB, I should've included the Nitro (and Prodigy X) on the poll list, but it's a limited number and you can't edit it. Oops.

Pat.

I'm 5'10 and 205 lbs, I haven't tried the L'edge but I have tried the maxim and I don't think there would be any resend it couldn't handle a heaver paddler.

Is there a boat out there that handle the same with someone that 250lbs as someone thats 180lbs ?

I am 6' 195lbs and a Detonator can handle me fine(or vice versa) on steep creeks and big water too. But it is not on the list

At 6'1" and 215 the Quake at 8"10" is my fav boat no question. Indestructable and fun river running or park and play. Seems to be harder to roll than my others but still my fav. But I can not vote for it in either poll floating around here right now.

The Ocoee at 11'2" is next on the list (really third when you see my vote) great and fun boat but I still need to adjust some outfitting (dang yakima pegs on the floor of the boat) and add bilge this winter so I can use it for park and play more next season.

The Impulse at 12' 8" still gets taken out on big water and I will never part with it.

The Ovation at 11' (even though it gets a bad rap) goes out when I feel lazy and want to park and play/surf endlessly. Rolls effortlessly.

I have to vote for the something older&/or bigger category at this time. My fav boat at 11'10" is my Prophet. If I had to pick one, it runs small or big water, not bad when it is creeky, and surfs/park and plays all day.

6' 197 I just sold an outrage this past summer cause it was just too narrow to be comfortable and a little wet at my size. I tried a prodigy x at the noc and really liked it. I still have an impulse that I have a ball in every time I paddle it and will never get rid of.
