Those 50 litre barrels look just about the size of a half keg of beer to me. Just strap them down so they don't float away in a swim :)

I cannot take credit for the photos. Those were taken by Colin.
Pass on to Colin that he's got talent!

You bet... Those long exposure ones where the water looks like silk waves makes me miss my last river trip.

Just BTW, surprisingly nobody mentionned but the encore is no more a playboat as by today's standards... :o A great tripping boat that is, too bad they don't make them anymore.
Watch out; that river has rocks on the bottom. :o

Many nice ones, but this one is my favorite, suitable for framing...

I loaded the Encore up with pretty much everything but the groceries. Tent, tarp, pad, sleeping bag, clothes, stove, filter etc. Roughly 40 lbs including 2 liters of water, a throw rope and a pump.
Took her out on the Quabog, a nice 2-3 run with a good mix of waves holes and technical stuff.
So far so good!
Can't say as I really noticed the load except at the carry around the dam. She surfed as well as ever, spun on demand and caught most of the eddies we went for. If anything the extra weight was a help when the breeze picked up on the slackwater above the dam. Maybe a little wetter at times though that could be operator error as well.
So unless it's a dry dry April I think I'll take the Encore.
Oh Yeah and EZ says surfing and eddy hopping isn't real play boating so apolgies to you serious playboaters.
I'm just trying to have a little fun. Nothing serious.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about boating to Pink Floyd.

I am in a borrowed Swift Raven. That won't happen again. Probably the worst river tripping boat invented. It paddles like a racing yacht.
I have a Royalite Swift Raven and like it a lot for hauling 200-225lbs total on mixed smoothwater & rapids. What made it not work well for your purposes? --Tom
