When my SO got her Spark last summer (bought from a friend and a boat I had paddled as a loaner some time the summer before..) she was really pissed coz I was boatless until a couple of weeks ago! When an ad in the german forum for another spark came up she urged me to get it and even wanted to lend me the money I didnt have at that time. I denied that though.. but now that the $$ situation changed for the better I decided to talk to the guy with the spark again and he still had it! She had me sitting in the car picking up the Spark the other day in no time..

I guess I can be quite happy with my choice of partner. At least boating-wise.. although she gets quite finicky with cold water and totally wants a drysuit now..

;D

well, gettin' another boat has become easy; amidst the pile of kevlar, royalex, and polyethylene another one slides in easy....todays challenge is sneakin' another drum set into the drum room downstairs. This ones gonna' be tricky...
so glad for Krylon, ABS and acetone.Squirt, sail, paddle and pole.

Tell the Wife.....

What I have done before seems to work. Of course to pull this off requires a few "dishonest" paddle buddies and it helps if you have quite a fleet already established. Buy it and outfit it at your paddle pals shop. Then take it out on the river and put a few scratches on it. These first two steps can be bypassed if the boat is purchased used. Then................wait a week or so and have your buddy bring it to your house when you are not there. He then informs the little lady that .."I really appreciate Barry letting me paddle his Spanish Fly for a while but I thought I had better get it back to him, he said that you might want to paddle it this weekend." The only problem is that I doubt it would work with Craig's L'Edge because she knows Craig and she knows this boat is just being released!

Folks,

Just added a Taureau to the fleet. It fits my girlfriend a treat so she is stoked. She did comment the other night whilst I was browsing the net that 'if it's not plastic or carbon, you're not interested are you?'

What I do though is only buy the same boxer shorts in the same colour, then she doesn't know when I'm been a smelly open boater. I guess this wouldn't work for boats!

"Woman, I have bought a new boat."

Then ...

"Would you like me to rub your feet?"

The poll is missing the classic....

"Oh that ... I'm just holding it for someone for transit!"

Since that happens a lot she'll just give me "the look" then walk away! Just keep re-shuffling the deal to give the impression that boats are moving in and out.

Blaming Big Al helps too!
