Anybody looking for a Prophet?

Any Boat, Gear, or outdoor related item you have for sale. If you use it on a paddling trip, or to prepare for one, it's fair game.

Anybody looking for a Prophet?

Post by eubie »

Got a buddy who's thinking about selling his Prophet. I've seen it: Good shape given its age. He hasn't given me a price yet.

I'd be willing to look into the prophet. I read a review on Paddling.net that stated the Prophet was similar to the Mad River ME but shorter. I own an ME and have done way technical whitewater in that massive boat....so if the statement above is true, I'd love to paddle an 11' Prophet. Get me a price or put me in touch with your friend so we can talk. I'm in PA but could rally a road-trip if it seems worthwhile.

Thanks

??? search *this* forum for Prophet opinions - I certainly can't remember hearing it compared to an ME. The Prophet seems to have appealed to a very small audience. I know of two ME drivers who tried Prophets and not liked them at all - one of them was me.

I have a Prophet and love it. Only paddled an Outrage to compare with, however. From what I've heard in the last few years, the Prophet has a devoted following, especially since they are not in production. Many former Prophet lovers had to find another boat when the last one wore out.

It is a 12' boat but only has about 10' of water line due to the massive rocker (which makes it a dry boat). Probably pushes 60lbs with bags, etc.

Prophet seeker

Post by jatakasawa »

My e-mail is jatakasawa@yahoo.com for anyone who wants to sell their Prophet. My ME has been widened in the center which has created extreme rocker....that's why I think I'll enjoy the Prophet. That ability to spin on a dime is what I'm looking for. I'm just looking to "graduate" to a smaller boat than the ME to take advantage of smaller eddies...plus, the ME isn't great for any type of surfing but side-surfing and I'm looking for a more playful craft.

Sorry to disappoint any/all of you guys. My buddy's Prophet has gone to his brother-in-law, thanks to his wife.
I'll keep my eyes open for one here in the Natural State.
